Kenner Turbo Tower of Power Wild Rider Competition Set

I shared a 1974 Kenner Turbo Tower of Power ad last year, but if you think that’s the end of Kenner’s advertising the line in the seventies then get ready for a treat. This 1976 advertisement from an issue of UFO Flying Saucers comic (the same issue where I found a fantastic Six Million Dollar Man ad) shows off the Wild Rider Competition Set and should make kids everywhere rush out and beg their parents for this cycle and rider toy set. I know I want one, just to see if you can really make the cycle jump 15-feet.

  1. I love the way ads were seamlessly blended into comics back then. Of course the most famous are the Hostess ads and the Charles Atlas ones but I love the way the advertisers would try to tell a story in the ad, making it feel like an adventure strip in its own right. So much cooler than the 90s ”photo and attitude” approach.

  2. Man I miss those old adverts. I don’t recall this one, but I do remember seeing ones for the Evel Knievel toys.
