“Welcome to Strawberry Shortcake World!”
December 16, 1982. I’ll never get tired of looking at these fabulous newspaper ads of the eighties, especially when Kenner’s Strawberry Shortcake line makes an appearance. Here we see a game, stuffed animals, as well as the doll-like action figures — or is it action figure-like dolls? — and two of the Strawberry Shortcake vehicles. I know Barbie has had vehicles and accessories forever, so why is it Strawberry Shortcake feels like an action figure line where Barbie does not? Is it Kenner’s marketing style that speaks to me here?
