1983 G.I. Joe Personnel Carrier Newspaper Advertisement
November 3, 1983. I have not forgotten the idea of creating a book of newspaper ads focused on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe action figures of the eighties. I still continue to collect materials for the project — including ads! — so discoveries like this one make my day just a little brighter; one step closer to a G.I. Joe book!

I just did a quick Google search and apparently the company was resurrected by a founding family member in 2004 and currently exists as an online-only retail site.
I remember my Mom finding the G.I. Joe Personnel Carrier at a yard sale not long after it came out. She picked it up cheap and brought it home to me. I didn’t care that it wasn’t in the package, I was just happy to add it to my growing collection of G.I. Joe vehicles.
