The A.I. Roleplaying Game in MegaTraveller Journal #3
The 1993 A.I. advertisement that I shared a few days ago was from the back cover of The MegaTraveller Journal #4, the final issue of the short-lived magazine. Fortunately, even though the A.I. roleplaying game was never released, poking through the past reveals scraps of information about the game’s development.
For example, check out this A.I. Update by Rob Caswell in issue #3 of The MegaTraveller Journal:
“Not unexpectedly, our primary focus for this year is on our new game, A.I. Role-Playing in a Technofantastic Future. Unfortunately, we missed our February release due to a hard disk crash, in which we lost 50% of all of the A.I. work done to date. This has pushed the game’s release date back to early summer of this year.”
Ouch! Having lost work due to technical and computer problems before, I can see how this would be crushing for the team that was working on A.I.. That had to have been a brutal blow. The magazine goes into more detail on the situation and gives an overview of the setting, all of which makes me even sadder than A.I. was never published.
