Knightmare Chess: Orders Due April 25, 1996
From a 1996 issue of the Steve Jackson Games Where We’re Going trade publication comes this page featuring the Knightmare Chess game. I can remember buying this game over two decades ago when it first released, and the way in which the cards merged with a chess set made for some fun, wacky chess games. You see, players construct their own card decks from the available Knightmare Chess cards and then play chess, moving a piece and playing one card each turn. The cards change the game, sometimes in big ways, and I played it quite a bit for a year or so when the game was new.
At the office, we published a new edition of Knightmare Chess* a few years ago, merging the two sets that were published in the nineties into a single box. And yes, it is kinda awesome to work at a company that I was a fan of back when I was a kid.
