G.I. Joe Fang Helicopter and Whirlwind Twin Battle Gun on Sale in 1983

Yesterday’s G.I. Joe newspaper ad from 1983 is joined by this rough, grainy ad from the same newspaper. This time, we see the Fang Helicopter and Whirlwind Twin Battle Gun on sale for $3.67/each, perfectly demonstrating how Hasbro offered G.I. Joe toys for every possible allowance. These smaller vehicle packs may not have included an action figure, but if we combine this ad with yesterday’s ad we find that a kid could buy a figure ($2.39) and a small vehicle ($3.67) for a total of $6.03 plus tax. That’s under seven bucks for a lifetime of fun!
