Strawberry Shortcake Snail Cart, Butterfly, Carrying Case, and More in 1981

Turn to the last page of this 1981 newspaper and you’ll find Kenner’s Strawberry Shortcake, a doll series that I still argue is more of an action figure line for girls than it is a collection of dolls. After all, we get everything from playsets to vehicles to the line, and this ad even includes a carrying case that is so much like an action figure carrying case that I included it in my book of the same name.*

Will I ever complete a book devoted to Kenner’s Strawberry Shortcake toys of the eighties? Maybe, but until then I suggest you take a peek at this ad and marvel at how much creativity Kenner sunk into this series.
