E.T. Atari Game, Card Game, and More at Gimbels in 1982

This 1982 newspaper ad makes an excellent companion to the K-Mart ad that we saw last year. Back in 1982, the E.T. movie was a hit, so toymakers were certain that the E.T. name was going to win Christmas that year. It did not, as we all know, and now we are left with a history in which E.T. eventually went to a landfill. Poor little guy.
