1994 BattleTech Virtual World Comic Advertisement

From Malibu’s BattleTech #0 comic book (published early in 1995) comes this full-page advertisement for the Virtual World BattleTech game pods. I’ve mentioned the Virtual World game centers before, and running across this ad for those old game pods was a real surprise. I suppose the idea behind the ad was to make visiting one of these places an aspirational dream — like Disneyland ads — so it kinda makes sense.

Second surprise? I swear this ad was illustrated by comic creator Ted McKeever! I cannot find proof, but it sure looks a hell of a lot like McKeever’s fantastic artwork (find at Amazon.com*). UPDATE: McKeever confirmed on Twitter that this is not his work.
