Transformers and G.I. Joe at Don’s Toys in 1984

This July 12, 1984, newspaper advertisement for Don’s Toys from the Los Angeles Times is one of the earliest instances of Hasbro’s Transformers advertised in newspapers. Megatron instantly on sale for $10 off is a surprise, but I guess the store wanted to move some robot toys as fast as possible. Little did the store owners know that all they had to do was wait; within a few months of this ad running, the Transformers toys were the hot item of the season.
