Review – Transformers: Titans Return Skytread

Hasbro’s Transformers: Titans Return Skytread* actually blurs a few different Transformers toys into one. A retool of the Titans Return Terri-Bull (review here), Skytread is a Titan Master take on the 1987 Duocon Flywheels, partner to Battletrap (reviewed here). I definitely prefer the new Power of the Primes Battletrap to Skytread*, but let’s go ahead and get a peek at the little guy so that we can close the circle.

Needs Paint!

Skytread* suffers from the same flaw as many of the Hasbro Titan Master toys: There aren’t enough paint apps! If you check this same design that was included in the Takara Head-Masters set, you’ll see what the addition of paint to the sculpt does to make the toy so very much better. At least Hasbro seems to be painting the Prime Master toys these days, so I guess Skytread* had to be paint-free for newer toys to look better.

A Jet and a Tank!

As a retool of the Titans Return Terri-Bull (review here), we’ve already seen every trick that Skytread* has to offer. Still, just because this is a duplicate of an earlier design doesn’t make it any less fun; what kid out there wouldn’t enjoy a toy that transforms between a jet and a tank and even includes a little robot driver that transforms into a head?

Closing Thoughts

It’s a little unfair to Skytread* that I don’t have lots to say, but after reviewing Terri-Bull (review here) the best thing I can do is say: Check out that older review if you wanna know just why this is a fun toy. Because it is a fun toy, and I hope that Hasbro keeps bringing us toys the size of the Titan Master and Prime Master single packs.
