Happy Birthday, Mickey!
It wasn’t until just before I fell asleep last night that I found out that yesterday was Mickey Mouse’s birthday. On November 28, 1928, Mickey Mouse appeared in the animated short, Steamboat Willie.
Now one of the best-known characters in the world, Mickey Mouse started out as a cute little black and white nothing. The Huffington Post ran some Mickey info yesterday, including some info on Epic Mickey.
And Mickey is big business these days, with his likeness appearing on shirts, blankets, towels . . . hell, pretty much anything you can imagine buying. Including toys, like this Dino Mickey Mouse vinyl toy* that’s up for pre-order now at Sideshow Collectibles.
“Sideshow Collectibles is proud to bring you Medicom Toy Corporation’s line of high-quality vinyl Disney figures! Medicom has designed the Disney VCD line with the serious Disney collector in mind, realizing each character accurately and faithfully. Medicom’s Disney VCD figures were previously only available in Japan – don’t miss this opportunity to add them to your collection! International customers are welcome to order.”
I’m sorry I forgot your birthday, Mickey, but rest easy knowing that many people across the world didn’t forget you yesterday. (Even Gina wore a Mickey Mouse shirt to work yesterday, which was a weird coincidence since she didn’t know it was Mickey’s birthday until later in the day).
