1979 MPC Star Wars Contest

Also from the comic with the Rom ad that we saw yesterday comes this full-page advertisement from model-maker MPC where they were running a contest for kids to win model kits, including Star Wars model kits, and maybe even $5,000 in cash. Okay, winning $5,000 today would be awesome, but winning $5,000 back in 1979 had to be absolutely stunning. A quick check of the inflation calculator shows that $5,000 in 1979 would be the equivalent of $17,130 today . . . so now I am even more impressed by this contest.
