A.I. Roleplaying Game from Digest Group Publications
GDW’s Challenge magazine had some fantastic articles in the late eighties and early nineties, but today it is an ad from 1992 that I’d like to take a little time to share. Digest Group Publications, best known for publishing official Traveller roleplaying support, was working on a new game in the early nineties, and this full-page ad is one that caught my eye and imagination from the first time that I saw it in the summer of 1992.
The A.I. roleplaying game was never published, but this issue of Tiffany Star at archive.org reports at the time:
“Digest Group Publications has discontinued its line of Traveller products to focus on A.I. Joe Fugate has lost none of his affection for Traveller, rather he’s having to respond to some realities.”
It really is a shame the game was never published. That 1992 ad, shown below, is one I still think of and wonder about what might have been if the game had reached stores.
