About That Star Wars Packaging I Don’t Like . . .

Yesterday’s post about Star Wars packaging led to a few different discussions, including some talk about how the design I dislike was based on an older Kenner packaging concept that was rejected. Searches weren’t revealing any info on the story behind the packaging so I soon quit looking and went back to work.
Well, Agent Adam (blog, Twitter) came to my rescue and directed me to the conceptual art for the old packaging: Concept Sketch for 12-Back Blister Card.

The post at theswca.com tells us that Kenner commissioned an outside design firm to assist with the packaging design for their “Star Wars Collection” and zooms in on — and discusses — various parts of the packaging sketch. Seeing this doesn’t make me like the package any more, but it’s fun to see concept art and I want to thank Adam for tracking this down and sending me the link of Twitter.
