Affiliate Link – Artist Trading Card Workshop
So one of the things I saw while wandering Seattle a few days ago was Artist Trading Card Workshop*, a book designed to lead artists down the path of creating their own small pieces of artwork known as — wait for it — artist trading cards! If you’re unfamiliar with the idea then see this entry at Wikipedia, but basically artists create original works that are trading card size and then trade them with other artists.
Or sell them, if you’re a popular artist or an artist who has tackled a popular theme.
The book is old, but I find it cool that there’s a book (and a quick search showed that there’s more than one) devoted to giving tips and advice on creating the miniature works of art. And it’s not just a book, because at the same art store I also saw packs of pre-cut 2.5″ x 3.5″ cards ready for illustration, paint, collage, or any other trick you wanna attempt.
Man, I need to get out more. I can’t believe I missed these little packs of pre-cut paper, canvas, and bristol board. They’re so cute!
