Every now and then I run across another Kubricks set that makes me thing I should be collecting these little toys. I own a few, but for the most part I treat them kinda like Minimates; I admire the designs but rarely buy any. Well, this Disney Fantasia Mickey and Broom Kubrick 2-Pack* is another cool pack that has me thinking I should really be paying more attention to the series. While not quite as neat as the FrankenMickey Kubricks (mentioned here), this is certainly a more iconic pack.
This Fantasia Mickey and Broom Kubrick 2-Pack is only limited to 1,500 sets outside Japan! This Kubrick 2-pack features Mickey, as he appeared in the short, and the enchanted broom that causes much consternation and comes in window box packaging. Walt Disney married classical music to animation with his acclaimed 1940 film Fantasia. One of the film’s most memorable sequences was “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.” Built around Paul Dukas’ 1897 symphonic poem “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” itself based upon Goethe’s “Der Zauberlehrling,” the animated segment has Mickey, an apprentice to a wizard, attempting to use his master’s spells to get through the drudge work of his day, with comical results.
