I’m not sure exactly what I think of Hunger Games. The description sounded interesting and I was considering trying the book . . . but then I saw the film trailer and was immediately thinking how terrible it looked. Odd, because the description of the story still makes me think I would like it. And in the sudden push we’re seeing there’s even the Hunger Games District 12 Strategy Board Game*, which may or may not actually be a good game. It’s from NECA, owner of WizKids, so there’s some good game design history at work there. But it’s a film tie-in so . . . yeah, I think I’m as torn on the game as I am the rest of the property.

  1. I actually haven’t seen a Hunger Games trailer yet. My wife really wants to see the movie, so she bought the first book, and then asked me to read it.

I’m almost finished with it, and I’m still not sure what I think about it. It definitely has a slow start, and didn’t really get interesting to me until around page 120.

The good news is it is a very quick read, and for a slow reader like myself, I am glad to be able to get through 100 pages right before bed.

I will finally watch one of the trailers when I finish the book later today, but I already know no matter what I think about it in the end I’m still taking my wife to see it this Saturday.
