Affiliate Link – Toys of the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s
Well this looks like a book that should definitely be on my shelves. Toys of the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s*, published last year, is presented as 208-pages discussing the toys of three very important decades for the toy industry. Barbie, G.I. Joe, Hot Wheels, and Star Wars are just some of the toylines the were created during these decades, and a quick glance through the sample pages soon had me ordering this book. I’m gonna make this one my bedtime reading book just as soon as it arrives!
Senior exhibit developer and best-selling author Kate Roberts, along with senior curator Adam Scher, spotlight forty-five memorable toys, placing them in historical context and examining their development and launch, their impact on kids and the larger community, and their reflection of the social and cultural shifts of each decade.

If the book is anything like the exhibit last year, it’s going to be awesome. One of the best exhibit experiences I’ve visited–each era had it’s own “living room” set up with a period-appropriate TV playing a loop of commercials from that particular decade. Strewn about the room were displays of toys from that decade.
Plus, just lots and LOTS of toys in cases everywhere. It was heaven!

@Jay – I wish I’d had a chance to see that. Sounds like it was a lot of fun. With luck the book will be great.
