Aliens: “Now You Can Wear One And Live To Tell About It!”
The entire concept of cloisonne pins is one of those things I know people love to collect, but I don’t get why these are collected. I’ve owned various ones over the years, but I cannot think of a single time when I stopped everything I was doing and actually bought a cloisonne pin for myself. Maybe I’m just weird.
Anyway, today we’re looking at an ad from Aliens: Earth War from Dark Horse. Currently available in the Aliens Omnibus, Vol. 1* collection, Aliens: Earth War is okay — I enjoyed it a lot more than this reviewer did — but instead of talking comics I instead want to talk about this ad from the first issue in the series.
Cloisonne Pins – I really don’t get it. They are small pieces of art, often icons or simple designs, and you wear them? Huh? Why would I want to bother with pinning something on and then just have to remember to remove it later? Wouldn’t it be easier to just wear a damn shirt with artwork printed on it?
And that’s all I’ve got to say about that.
(Notice I didn’t actually talk about the ad. Yeah, I’m like that.)

I wear the misc. pins I get from record labels and roller derby teams on the strap of my messenger bag. That way they’re always there, but I don’t have to deal with them. I wouldn’t buy a pin though, as that just seems silly.
@ShenaniTims – I like the messenger bag idea except it would poke holes in the bag. Clearly we need a Kickstarter project for a device to wear pins without actually wearing pins.
