Animation Gallery Collectibles and Shadows of the Empire
A 1996 issue of Tomart’s Action Figure Digest gives us another idea of the popularity of the Shadows of the Empire action figures and vehicles . . . in 1996. In this full-page ad for Animation Gallery Collectibles we can see that Leia (Boushh), Dash Rendar, Xisor, and Chewbacca (Snoova) were all so in-demand that you had to call for pricing. These days the figures can be found for $5 to $10/each, which is basically what they cost new almost twenty years ago.
Actually, running an inflation calculator we see that $5 in 1996 dollars equals $7.45 in 2014 dollars. (2015 isn’t an option for the inflation calculator at this time.) So these toys really do cost the same today as they did back then. This line just didn’t keep its value.
