Assorted Battle Beasts Now $1.99/each in 1987
November 12, 1987. The Los Angeles Times. The more I poke at the sales history of Hasbro’s Battle Beasts in 1987 and 1988, the more certain I am that the Battle Beasts line was a failure from the beginning. I’ve mentioned before how I suspect the line was never popular — here and here — and now I’ve uncovered another ad that supports my belief that the toys were a failure. Sorry, Battle Beasts, but you just didn’t perform as expected.
Most of my memories of the line were sales. Bandoliers and Battle Bases and Battle Chargers felt like they lingered forever. I also remember how excited I was to see the Series 3 8-pack I got. I really loved these, ’twas a pity they never really amounted to much.
