Author Neal Asher on Night Shade Books
More on the Night Shade Books issue that is consuming sci-fi news at the moment as author Neal Asher (Amazon.com search*) weighs in with his own thoughts on the potential sale of Night Shade Books’ assets to two other publishers. In a post at his blog, Asher writes:
The whole thing is a bit of a bastard and the decisions of the individual authors concerned will be based on a number of things: how many books they have with NSB (and whether they have books with other publishers), how much NSB owes them, what they think their future earnings might be from the NSB books, how much financial pain they are in …etc. It’s not easy.
The information on the potential sale is flying around the web pretty fast, with all kinds of posts from authors, agents, fans . . . well, it’s kinda big news for fans of sci-fi novels and short stories so it seems as if everyone has an opinion. All I know is that I hope this works out well and that the titles in Night Shade’s catalog remain available and don’t get locked down in some legal mess.
