Autoduel Quarterly Page from the 1984 Steve Jackson Games Catalog
We’re hard at work on the new edition of Car Wars at the office, and part of that work includes spending time exploring the archives. This week I was flipping through the 1984 Steve Jackson Games catalog when this page featuring the Autoduel Quarterly magazine (sold in PDF, find at Amazon.com*) caught my eye. I can remember being all excited when a new issue would appear in the store, and for a time back in the late eighties I even had a subscription.
Working on the new game is a blast, but getting a chance to revisit the game’s history is also a lot of fun and quite inspirational. The new game may be completely redesigned and considerably faster, but there’s a lot of nostalgia wrapped up in the game’s past and we’re keeping that history in mind as we build the new game and setting. I have got one hell of a fun job.
