Avalon Hill’s “Princess Ryan’s Star Marines”
Out of a 1997 issue of The General magazine comes this full-page ad for an Avalon Hill game I’ve never played, but one that caught my eye when the ad was new and was a title I always wanted to try. This 1997 edition of Princess Ryan’s Star Marines (find at Amazon.com*, on BoardGameGeek) re-created an earlier game by of the same name, and over the years whenever I’ve seen this ad I’ve thought: Hey, that looks kinda cool. Why have I never played the game? Just never had the chance, and as neat as the ad looks it was never so amazing that I rushed out to buy the game.
Still, running across this old ad again has reminded me the game exists. I’ll have to dig deeper into the game’s BoardGameGeek page and see what I can learn.
