Avatar AMP Suit at Entertainment Earth
I first got a look at the toys for the Avatar movie when I was at the Penny Arcade Expo back in September. These things didn’t look all that impressive from what I could see through the display cases, and the photos and thoughts I posted were just reinforced when I finally saw these toys at Target.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t excitement for the movie and toy line, though, even if I’m not completely onboard with anything surrounding the movie. The trailer looks bad to me, and the toys look terrible. Even this AMP Suit* doesn’t look good enough for me to care.
“If you like giant cybernetic suits, the Avatar AMP Suit is just the thing for you! This big rig can seat one action figure and then blow up tons of stuff. Really, you can’t go wrong here. Show those blue aliens who’s boss with this swell Avatar AMP Suit toy!”
I’m not sure if I completely agree with Entertainment Earth’s sell text on this thing. I feel like this movie should be exciting me, but the odd blend of almost cartoon-like CG and live action sequences just leaves me cold. I strongly suspect this movie isn’t going to do all that well and that these toys will be on clearance shortly after Christmas.
Is anyone excited about this movie? Anyone want to try to persuade me that I’m terribly wrong and that this will be an awesome film? Because so far I just see what looks like someone’s attempt at creating a “cool” story and forcing some morality play down my throat.
