“Batman is a cash cow” in 1992
In 1992, licensees were hoping that Tim Burton’s Batman Returns (find at Amazon.com*) would be as big — or bigger! — than the 1989 Batman movie, and this newspaper article published right before the movie’s release details how the various licensees were looking to cash in on the movie. Dresses, chips, toys, and more were Bat-branded; ultimately, the movie failed to live up to the success of the first film. Why? I still say they tried to shove too many villains into the movie.
