BattleGrip Magazine and Reviews

When hackers cracked into the site and nearly brought years of work to a close it was the toy reviews — closing in on 1,000 reviews and over ten thousand photos posted since 2008 — that I was most worried about losing. And when I set out to bring BattleGrip together as a magazine I knew this was my chance to work the text and photos together a little better than I could with the web, so I think it’s safe to say most of my focus on the first issue has been on the reviews.

Below you can see a two-page spread of a Transformers review coming together. This Bumblebee review takes up six pages in the first issue; I wanted to be sure the photos were large enough for all of you to enjoy.

  1. Your first few spreads look great, just worried that this seems like a lot of work Phil lol.

  2. @Court – I think the biggest challenge for me will be finding the right balance between site updates and work on the magazine. The reviews for the magazine have actually been easier to work on than ones I was writing for the site.
