Battleship, Operation, and More Games in 1979

Back when this 1979 newspaper ad was new, many of the boardgames sold in stores were the same classics that we find today. This ad alone offers up Battleship, Operation, Scrabble and Monopoly, all games that have been top sellers for decades now. More importantly, these are also all games that are now under the Hasbro brand, demonstrating just how much of the established game industry Hasbro managed to pick up with their purchase of Milton Bradley followed by the purchase of Parker Brothers. That’s a lot of strong game brands under one owner!
