BattleTech Clans in 1989
Books about the “Clans” in the BattleTech universe (Amazon.com search*) aren’t at all uncommon or unusual . . . today. Back in 1989, though, the Clans were the start of a storyline that would shatter the BattleTech universe and dramatically change everything for the game’s many worlds.
This ad for Michael Stackpole’s trilogy comes from Space Gamer #87 in 1989 and reminds me of when I first read the novels. This was a great trilogy and one I can happily recommend to anyone who has never encountered the BattleTech universe in fiction. Even 24 years later the stories hold up well; Stackpole is an amazing storyteller and doesn’t get enough credit for all of the great work he has written over the years.
