BattleTech Trading Card Game – Limited vs Unlimited Rulebooks

I posted an old advertisement for the release of the unlimited BattleTech trading card game (posted here) and, in that entry, mentioned some of what made the two editions of the game different. Well, there’s another significant difference between the two editions of the game, and I thought it might be a good idea to show, rather than tell, why you may prefer to find the limited edition if you set off in search of the game.

The above image shows two versions of the BattleTech CCG rulebook. On the left is the unlimited edition rulebook, which is roughly the same size as a single game card. On the right, as you can tell, the limited edition rulebook is significantly larger. The decrease in size from the limited to unlimited rulebook brought with it a drop in type size and an adjustment to the rules flow, and it is my opinion that you want the limited rules because they are so much easier to read.

Maybe it is just that my eyes are twenty years older than when the rules were new, but I totally feel that you want the bigger rulebook. Yeah, I am old.
