Big Jim Newspaper Ad from 1973
Someone needs to create a book about Mattel’s Big Jim action figure series of the seventies. At the moment, my best printed reference for the Big Jim line is G.I. Joe and Other Backyard Heroes*, and that book doesn’t devote enough space to Big Jim to satisfy my needs. Hey, world, get at it!
While I wait for someone to create that book (not it!) I hunt through the Google newspaper archives for old Big Jim material. That constant search is what led to this 1976 newspaper ad where we see the field radio, Rescue Rig, and camper all offered on sale. I have that Rescue Rig and can report that it’s a beast of a toy. Giant!!!
