Big Jim, Steve Scout, and Fighting Furies in 1974

This 1974 Caldor newspaper advertisement is loaded with action figure fun for those of you who like things a little off the beaten path. The Big Jim Kung Fu Studio playset and case may be the star of the ad, but those Matchbox Fighting Furies action figures alongside Kenner’s Steve Scout cannot be missed! I’d love to chase down the Fighting Furies “Pirate Ship Carrying Case,” but I almost need to take donations to make that happen since every single one I find is pricey. Is the Fighting Furies line that popular, or is it just that the series was on shelves for such a short time that there aren’t many of the toys out there?
