“Built a business on a music box”
For some reason, it feels to me like the recent Mattel 70 Years: of Innovation and Play* book should have included this 1951 Kiplinger’s Personal Finance article. All about the earliest years of Mattel and their successes, this article is remarkably upbeat and closes with a line that Mattel should drag out and use for some of today’s marketing:
“If the Handler enterprise keeps moving along at its present rate, there won’t be many children in the country without a Mattel toy come Christmas 1960.”
