Cal MacDonald Detective Tales
Yesterday while at Austin Books I stumbled across a new book by Steve Niles (website, Twitter) and after less than a second it was in my hands and I was ready to checkout. Cal MacDonald Detective Tales is a novella published by Niles’ new endeavor, Bloody Pulp Books, and at just $5 it’s a steal for anyone who already enjoyed his work with Criminal Macabre*.
And it’s not just text; artist Kelly Jones has some spot illos in the book which makes me quite happy. It’s good to see more Cal MacDonald prose work; I’d thought Niles was completely finished with that since it has been so long since the collection of short stories was published by IDW back in 2003.
I haven’t read the novella yet, but that’s going to happen before this holiday weekend is over.
The main goals of Bloody Pulp are to deliver Cal stories on a regular basis, create high-quality DIY packaging, and keep the price as affordable as possible. These books will be VERY limited, but we hope to keep them coming because there is a huge backlog of Cal McDonald stories. That walking pharmacy can’t stay out of trouble.
