Collect all 8 ESSO Robot Racers? Okay.
Thanks to the Vintage Toy and Action Figures group on Facebook I now own all eight of the Robot Racers. Produced in the eighties for the Esso gas stations, these cheap transforming robot toys were even promoted with a very silly commercial. Just how much money did Esso sink into creating this commercial that’s as cheesy and silly as the toys?
- Counter-X post. I often return to the Counter-X site when researching transforming robot toys of the eighties.

- Figured Out post. This site is completely new to me so I’ll have to spend some time exploring it very soon.

So cool! Did you ever see/own the McDonalds transforming robots in the late 80s/early 90s? They were all McDonalds menu items that changed into robots — blew my mind as a little kid. I bought a bunch off eBay for my brother in law a couple of years ago for Christmas and they were still amazing fun.
@Wolf – Yep, I had some of those. I still do (around here somewhere). I think they were released late eighties or maybe even early nineties.
Changeables. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Changeables Says here 1987, 1989, and 1990.
Yep, they’re the ones. The French Fries were (and are) my favourite.
@Wolf – They are very adorable designs. I’m surprised we can’t find more info about them online; these were everywhere back when they were released.
