Commodore 64 at ToysRUs in 1985
Woah, no wonder it wasn’t until 1989 that I had a Commodore 64 of my own (and one that I bought that summer after working for many weeks). This 1985 newspaper includes a fun ToysRUs ad that offers up the Commodore 64, disk drive, and monitor, all for the “low” price of $550. What I find most surprising of all is that the disk drive costs $50 more than the computer!
