In trying to work out a way to give toys an interesting backdrop that’s a bit new for me I have bought several “Mechanical Chain Base” kits. Once I get a good backdrop constructed, and decent lighting for the shelf, you can expect to see this appear in toy photos every now and then.

I’ve wanted to get a set of these for an enclosed display space for years now. I saw them while visiting Akihabara district in Tokyo last year, but they were expensive. Where’d you source yours from, and what was the total cost on building it? I think my Maketoys Green Giant would look great in one.
@Rich – This is my first experience with the sets. The backdrop part is very cool, the accessories are less cool.
@Blayne – I managed to get a dozen sets (two each of numbers one through six) for $120 on eBay as a lot. The photo shows ten sets of walls/bases assembled.
