“Countdown to the most fantastic compendium of space stuff ever!”
While digging through one of the comic boxes this morning I ran across this ad for Dark Horse’s Blast Off* guide to space toys of the thirties, forties, and fifties. I’ve mentioned the book a few times before — reading post, affiliate link — and spotting this ad made me smile. How did I not buy this book in 2001 as soon as I saw the ad?
So where/when was the ad run? Well, this ad comes from a late 2001 issue of the Superman/Tarzan book by Chuck Dixon and Carlos Meglia. The only reason I even bought Superman/Tarzan: Sons of the Jungle* was because of Meglia’s artwork, and even several years later I find that Meglia’s art on the book is phenomenal. Easily just as good as his various Star Wars projects.
lol, it looks like we read at that time the same comic books for same reasons! i treasure this 3 issue mini series – next to the oneshot issue he made for Crimson (Humberto Ramos vampire series).
@Ralph – I’m a big fan of Meglia’s stylized artwork. If you wanna try another comic from around that time that’s fun I also recommend Hieroglyph:
