Dash Rendar Action Figure Sketch
The Secrets of Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire* included a number of photos, sketches, and assorted images that gave us a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the 1996 Star Wars multi-media event. That Shadows of the Empire series was one of the most ambitious projects we’ve seen Lucasfilm attempt; I don’t think that anything they’ve done since then (that wasn’t a movie year) has received this level of coordination and merchandising.
The above image from the book shows the design of Dash Rendar’s backpack and rifle. This was an over-the-top design that’s as nineties as they come — Rendar would look right at home alongside Marvel’s Cable — and for a look at the finished figure see my review of the toy.
