“Discover Two Models that are Out of this World.”
Model kits were something I dabbled in as a kid, but where I missed out was in the MPC Star Wars kits that were large dioramas. starwarsmodels.com offers up a list of kits, and scanning through that I quickly find both the Encounter With Yoda on Dagobah and Battle of Hoth Action Scene kits that are featured in this 1981 advertisement.
I know it’s great that printing technology is far enough along that photos reproduce well these days, but I cannot help but feel we’re missing out on opportunities for amazing illustrations of toys and model kits. When this ad was new photos weren’t looking their best on cheap papers and instead, we got drawings of products. I miss that.
