DJI Osmo Experiment: Tripod and iPad Pro
I got a new DJI Osmo camera* a few days ago and, yesterday, transferred the camera from its role as a hand-held device to a tripod-mounted arrangement. The Osmo, if you’re unfamiliar with it, is a 3-axis gimbal rig with a hi-res camera, giving you steady cam-like capabilities. One of the things that has stopped me from more experimentation with video is shaky cam effects, and this new camera effectively eliminates that obstacle.
The camera connects through wi-fi to my phone and, as I demonstrated in yesterday’s test, right to the iPad Pro*. Awesome!!! The two issues I need to solve next are the microphone — the Osmo’s built-in mic is pretty weak — and after that I need a solution for “look at the camera and not the monitor,” but that last one is a minor inconvenience and I’m sure there’s a simple fix I just haven’t thought of yet.
