Car Wars was clearly the top car combat boardgame of the eighties, but there were actually a handful of other games at the time fighting for market share. Milton Bradley’s Thunder Road is likely the best known, followed by Games Workshop’s Dark Future, but if you were at all a collector of the Autoventures series (ad posted here) then you’re aware of Games Workshop’s earlier entry in the genre, BattleCars.
This 1984 BattleCars ad from White Dwarf does one very important thing for me. What’s that? Simple, it reminds me that I do not have a copy of BattleBikes in my collection. Time to check eBay!
