Dreamwave’s 2004 Transformers Posterbook Advertisement
When this advertisement was new in 2004, I suspect that many of us had no idea that the Transformers brand would soon shift from Dreamwave to IDW. The collapse of Dreamwave has been covered before (see Wikipedia), so instead of dwelling on that I’ll instead point at this ad and its Ultra Magnus illustration as an example of some of the amazing work Dreamwave did with the Transformers property in the short time that they were its guardian in the comics world.

I still have my copy of the DW posterbook. Their art style is still my all time favorite for TF art. I miss Don Figueroa drawing TF comics.
I never bought their official lingo of the state of the comic book industry as factor in their demise. Most comic book companies were starting to sense an upswing (which really got going a few years later). Still, it’s good to see that IDW did a great job with their new acquisition.
