“Dungeon Masters Handbook” at Hobby Town in 1979
As I suspected and mentioned in yesterday’s Hobby Town ad, there have to be more Hobby Town ads for the Dungeons & Dragons* roleplaying game hiding in the newspaper archives. Bingo! Returning to the Lincoln Journal Star of Lincoln, Nebraska, we find this ad from August 26, 1979, where the store is promoting the then-new Dungeon Masters Guide*. And yes, the original is “masters” and not “master’s” guide. I didn’t make that decision, gang. I’m just reporting on what I uncovered in ancient newspapers . . .
