Dungeons & Dragons 1983 Video Game Review Artwork
If this post’s headline looks familiar it’s because I used these almost these exact words earlier this year when sharing a magazine review from 1983. Why would I go back to the word well and dig out the same basic headline again? Because I found a June, 1983, issue of Electronic Games magazine where the magazine again commissioned original artwork for a Dungeons & Dragons game review. Damn, magazines sure were incredible back when they were generating enough income to create completely new artwork for things like game reviews.

“Mattel Electronics was quick to recognize the potential of electronic adaptations of Dungeons & Dragons. The company licensed the trademark from TSR Hobbies, then put programmers to work to see how many games could utilize the great themes from Dungeons & Dragons.”
Fantastic artwork, a fun review, and a great companion to a newspaper article I shared last month all come together to make this well worth sharing with you guys. Just don’t go out and find a copy of the game because then you’ll end up making me want one. And hey, I just realized that even though Mattel was the one to make this game in the eighties it’s now Hasbro who owns Dungeons & Dragons. The world is weird.
