Dungeons & Dragons at ToysRUs in 1985
Here’s another discovery thanks to the Dragon CD archive*. Out of the May, 1985, issue of Dragon comes this full-page ToysRUs ad for the Dungeons & Dragons and Marvel Superheroes roleplaying games. Now what I find most surprising is that this ad would appear in Dragon magazine, a known reference for existing roleplayers. I would have expected to have seen this in a more mainstream publication, a place to gain new gamers and not a magazine where the advertised games are likely already owned by the readers. Very odd choice.
