Fighting Fantasy “Dark Usurper” Solitaire Adventures in White Dwarf Magazine
My experience with the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks (find at Amazon.com*) is limited to playing through a couple of the titles when I was a kid. I was more into the Endless Quest and Car Wars gamebooks, but if the Fighting Fantasy books had been a bit more available I likely would have bought more of them. They were kinda rare in my neighborhood.
I was reading You Are The Hero*, the Fighting Fantasy history, and felt inspired to poke through the magazines in my collection in search of reviews of the series. It turns out I’ve got something better than a review in my magazine collection; White Dwarf issues 61 through 63 features a three-part Fighting Fantasy mini-adventure . . . and I own all three issues! Okay, time to set aside some time to play through this and see how they handled condensing the concept down to a total of eleven magazine pages.
