“For the younger boys, Stompers are the Christmas present.”
After a quick peek at Stompers last week (posted here) it felt appropriate to dig just a little more into the Google newspaper archives. You see, that article we explored last week was a little too complimentary of the Stompers for there to not be more old newspaper articles just waiting to be discovered. Fortunately, I was right, and this Nevada Daily Mail article from December 1981 shows that Stompers were hot (at least in one city) at the time.
“The Woods did buy one ‘faddish’ toy and do not regret that decision. The toy was a miniature, four-wheel drive pickup called a ‘Stomper’ and it is selling like hotcakes at Gambles and all other businesses.”
Are there any Stompers fans out there who can report on the popularity of the toy when they were a kid? I remember them as fun, and a few kids had them, but I cannot remember Stompers ever being as played with as Hot Wheels and Matchbox toy cars.

This is why I stop here every day; I used to have a Stomper tank (long gone) when I was a wee little one, but after yesterdays Stomper article, I dug out my McDonalds Stompers.
