G.I. Joe Action Figures: $1.88/each in 1982
More of G.I. Joe in the 1980s with a “blink and you miss it” section of a 1982 newspaper advertisement that includes far more than just Hasbro’s then-new 3.75-inch scale G.I. Joe action figures. Look, kids, Kenner’s Star Wars Micro Collection at 30% off! These old ads really bring into focus just how much of a dog that Star Wars Micro Collection was when it was new.

Wow, that’s not much more than Star Wars figures when they were released.
6 years later, G.I. Joe figures would cost $2.99. I guess that’s not too crazy of a jump though.
@Stunt Zombie – This was the sale price. The ad says $2.77 for the regular price.
Ah. I guess it would help if I read the whole ad, wouldn’t it?
I always thought they were a bargain at $2.99 ($3.12 w/tax).
Even at 3 bucks normal, I love the dichotomy of the cheap toys while the Underoos were almost 5 hehe.
Back in the day, one of my local malls had two toy stores, a KayBee and another whose name I don’t recall. However, they consistently had the new Joes over a month before KayBee or ToysRUs. The catch was they retailed for $3.99, a ridiculous price considering everyone else had them for around three bucks.
Typically I’d allow myself one from their stash, the coolest looking one, and wait on the rest.
